BOWEN TECHNIQUE (BOWTECH)
The Bowen Technique consists of a series of gentle movements performed on muscles, tendons, and connective tissue. Many of these movements coincide with acupuncture points and with two or three meridians. The gentle manipulation of the superficial fascia through movements on muscles and tendons increases the mobility of musculoskeletal structures, stimulates the nervous system, and has an active effect even on internal organs. The goal is, through this process, to achieve the restoration of balance in the body, which activates its self-healing mechanisms to return to homeostasis.
The Bowen Technique is applied by a specialized therapist to the recipient, who is usually lying down wearing light clothing. A unique feature of Bowtech is the short pauses between movements, which aim to allow the body to accept and process the procedures-signals from the body to the brain. During these pauses, the therapist is called to leave the therapy space to let the recipient relax so that the body can begin the self-healing process. The body continues to “work” for 7 to 10 days after the day of therapy.
The Bowen Technique is suitable for people of all ages, regardless of their physical condition, as it is a safe method for addressing dysfunctions such as:
